Italian clubs not Magners certainties yet

MAGNERS LEAGUE director David Jordan has played down reports that Italian clubs will join the league next season.

Jordan confirmed talks had resumed over the future participation of Benetton Treviso and Viadana in an expanded competition.

It is understood both Italian clubs have put together enough capital to allow negotiations to be resurrected.

“I’m not a position now to talk in detail – that’s commercial and sensitive,” said Jordan. “Discussions have now begun again.

“The Celtic Rugby board is looking at possible Italian entry – I can’t say for which season. However, no decision has been made.”
