Connacht duo to join centurions

CONNACHT skipper John Muldoon and lock Michael Swift are set to play their 100th game in Magners League in Cardiff on Sunday. Only one player, former captain Andrew Farley, has reached a century in a Connacht jersey in the competition up to now.

Farley, now with Grenoble in France, played 113 times for Connacht in the Magners League. But now two more Connacht players are set to reach the milestone this weekend and experienced lock Swift will equal Eric Elwood’s record number of appearances for the province.

Swift, now in his 10th season at the Sportsground, has played 160 times for Connacht and will equal Elwood’s all-time record if he plays on Sunday.

Swift and Muldoon are included in a 22-man squad for the trip to Cardiff City Stadium as Connacht bid to complete a double over Cardiff this season.

“Our away form has let us down and we have let a few good positions slip.

“We had a good break and went into that on the back of a good win over Scarlets, so hopefully we can push on,” said captain Muldoon
