True, Munster were a lot better than they had been a week previously against Leinster but it was still a performance short of what was required to win away – even allowing for the referee’s last-play eccentricities.

“We had four and a half minutes within 22 metres of the try line and if we were good enough, we should have got the points in that time. We did give away a lot of penalties but I think it was technical shortcomings that led to that. Discipline is always going to be a 50/50 call. It was very combative out there this evening and some of those can go either way. We need to work harder and get better.”
