MUNSTER coach Tony McGahan believes a week in the Portuguese sun has put his team “ahead of the game” in the build-up to the new season.

The Munster squad arrived home yesterday following a seven-day training camp at the exclusive Browns Sports and Leisure Club in Vilamoura ready to move seamlessly into tomorrow night’s first pre-season friendly against Sale Sharks at Musgrave Park.

Having spent much of the early part of the summer worrying about the condition in which his players would return from the British & Irish Lions tour and Churchill Cup, McGahan earmarked the week to reunite his squad.
