Riordan gets chance to shine

MUNSTER manager Shaun Payne says new recruit, Danny Riordan, will be given his chance to prove himself after being handed a short-term contract yesterday.

Riordan, who can play full back and wing, was released by Connacht at the end of last season, but has been on trial with Munster for the past few weeks.

The 24-year-old has played 23 times for the Westerners in the Magners League and made 14 Challenge Cup appearances and comes into the squad as a replacement for Ciaran O’Boyle, who is recovering from a hamstring injury. O’Boyle had an operation on Tuesday to repair the damaged hamstring and will be out of action until January.
