Munster to honour heroes

IT’S been some week for many of Munster’s rugby heroes and tonight, one of them will be named the province’s player of the year.

Lions captain Paul O’Connell is shortlisted for the senior gong along with previous winner John Hayes, David Wallace and Niall Ronan. Up and comers Tommy O’Donnell, Eoghan Grace, Dave Ryan and David Foley will vie for the Munster academy player of the year.

The Irish Examiner-sponsored awards, which take place at Thomond Park, will also celebrate the achievements at junior, women’s and schools level in the province. Full coverage in Monday’s sports section.
