Glasgow back-row Brown returns to face Leinster

GLASGOW Warriors coach Sean Lineen has included back-row Kelly Brown in his team to face champions Leinster in tomorrow night’s Magners League clash at Firhill Arena, (Setanta Ireland, 7.30pm).

Brown, who started last week’s Heineken Cup clash against Toulouse on the bench, returns in place of Richie Vernon, who made his first competitive start for the Warriors this season against the French champions.

That change in the back-row is the only one made by head coach Lineen who is fielding all seven of the squad called-up for Scotland’s Autumn Tests in the starting XV.

“Kelly came on last weekend and made a huge impact,” Lineen said. “He’s had a little wake-up call but I’ve been impressed with how he has responded and it’s also great to see him back in the Scotland squad.

“As for Richie, he had a taste of the big time last weekend and I was really encouraged by his performance. He certainly wasn’t out of his depth in such a massive game.

“We need to build on our form from last Friday; all we need is a different end result. The crowd was fantastic once again and with Leinster setting the pace in the Heineken Cup we need the same level of noise from the Jackie Husband stand this week.”

Meanwhile Gavin Duffy, the only Connacht player included in the Irish squad for the autumn internationals, is putting his international selection to one side until after their vital Magners League game against Edinburgh on Friday.

“This is a huge game for us and that has to be the focus of attention just now,” said Duffy, who will hope to pick up his ninth cap this autumn.

“In many ways it is bigger than the match against London Irish in the Challenge Cup last weekend and it would be great to go into the break on the back of another win.

“It is important for us that we follow our win over Leinster by putting more pressure on Ulster and Edinburgh and the other teams around us,” he added.

Connacht have been boosted by the return from injury of lock David Gannon who has yet to play this season because of a calf injury.

And props Brett Wilkinson and Robbie Morris, both of whom were injured against London Irish, have been passed fit and have been included in a 24-man squad.

GLASGOW WARRIORS: B Stortoni; L Fa’atau, M Evans, G Morrison, T Evans; D Parks, M McMillan; K Tkachuk, D Hall, E Kalman; D Turner, A Kellock (capt); K Brown, J Barclay, J Beattie.
