Murphy back to his best

IT was a fairytale ending to a roller-coaster week for Geordan Murphy, signing off another chapter in what is a strange but fascinating story that has always generated debate and controversy during Eddie O’Sullivan’s watch as head coach.

Murphy back to his best

Once described by his former coach at Leicester, Dean Richards, as the ‘George Best of rugby’, Murphy was at his elegant best against the Scots, following up one pièce de résistance in open play with another in an electrifying display from his best position of full-back.

He rarely put a foot wrong, and in doing so picked up the man-of-the-match award, enough proof you might think that he’s an indispensable member of this team.
