ULSTER caretaker coach Steve Williams admitted the uncertainty surrounding the appointment of Mark McCall’s successor has taken a heavy toll on team performances.

All indications are that former Leinster and Scotland coach Matt Williams will be appointed to the post later this week but it is six weeks since McCall resigned and the caretaker wants the matter resolved.

Ulster have lost nine of their last 11 games, are bottom of the Magners League and out of the running for a Heineken Cup quarter-final place.
