Various media have called for his head, the public have jumped aboard the bandwagon. So it must surely have been with a feeling of apprehension that the Irish coach returned to Ireland and went to live again among the people of Co Galway?.

“I can honestly say that I haven’t heard a nasty word from anyone”, he declared. “That wasn’t just the case around Galway, rather it was the reaction I got whether I was in Belfast, Limerick, Cork or Dublin. People said hard luck and good luck for the Six Nations. They were forgiving and I appreciate that even though I know they had an understandable level of expectation and we let them down very badly.
