Although Peter Stringer has been a member of so many Irish sides, it is hardly surprising that the Irish captain should now welcome the 26-year-old Limerick man’s inclusion in the team to face France on Friday night.

Said O’Driscoll: “In fairness to Eoin Reddan, his opportunity has come. He’s trained well throughout, always remained very focused; he’s a good worker, a good talker and he’s playing with confidence having come off a successful season with Wasps. So it’s as good a time as any to give the guy a chance.
