Munster may play Wasps at Wembley

PAUL O’CONNELL could lead his Munster team out for the first rugby game at the revamped Wembley Stadium.

Wasps chiefs are considering playing Munster in next season’s Heineken Cup at the 90,000 capacity venue after their Twickenham plans for the attractive Pool Five fixture fell through.

The 2007 Heineken Cup champions had hoped to play the plumb European tie against Munster at Twickenham, but those plans were scuppered yesterday when the stadium authorities informed them that planned road improvements in the vicinity of the RFU Headquarters wouldn’t allow the pool game to go ahead there.
