NO MORE than anyone else, Garrett Fitzgerald could scarcely have predicted the phenomenon that Munster rugby would become. As chief executive of the province almost since the advent of the professional game in Ireland, he has overseen the transformation of the province from a haphazardly successful domestic outfit with occasionally outrageous feats of giant-killing, into one of the top sides in the club game in Europe.
For the quietly spoken 53-year-old, it has been as unexpected as it has been welcome, but like most professional sports entities it continues to present an ever-changing range of challenges on and off the pitch.
