Munster boost as French go for profit

MUNSTER have been handed a Heineken Cup advantage by Bourgoin, following the decision to move January’s clash between the sides to Geneva.

Munster boost as French go for profit

The Pool 4, round five fixture will take place at the 30,000 all-seater Stade de Geneve, home to Swiss football club Servette FC, which has a capacity of more than three times that of Bourgoin’s Stade Pierre Rajon.

Basing the decision on the huge support enjoyed by Munster, the French club have gone for profit before victory, handing Munster a serious psychological advantage.

Bourgoin will find it hard to attract much more than 10,000 fans to the game, leaving Munster in an ideal position to have the bulk of support.

European Rugby Cup Ltd are delighted with the decision, pointing out that it could well lead to a record crowd for a pool match. The record stands at 26,645 set for the Cardiff-Leicester clash a month ago.

The Bourgoin-Munster game is scheduled for the weekend of January 12/13/14. The date and time will be confirmed following round three of the tournament early next month.

Tickets for the game will be available from both Bourgoin and Munster.

Information on the venue and Geneva and where to get tickets will be available on www.ercrugby.com.
