Fogarty adds to Kidney’s injury woes

MUNSTER coach Declan Kidney is facing an early-season injury headache after confirmation that reserve hooker Denis Fogarty will be out for six months once he undergoes shoulder surgery.

Fogarty adds to Kidney’s injury woes

The Cork Con player was reserve to Jerry Flannery in last season’s successful Heineken Cup campaign following Frankie Sheahan’s neck injury, but Flannery is also injured at the moment.

Sheahan lasted the full 80 minutes of Friday’s friendly against Leicester at Musgrave Park, but at the moment he’s the only established hooker available to Kidney. Shannon’s Sean Cronin, who enjoyed a marvellous campaign for the league winners last season, is there as back-up.To compound Munster’s injury woes centre Trevor Halstead, scorer of the opening try in the final against Biarritz, will miss the start of the season due to a knee injury.
