Faultless Flannery find of season

THERE are so many aspects to Jerry Flannery’s achievements since taking over the number-two jersey for Munster and Ireland from the luckless Frankie Sheahan that it’s almost impossible to know where to start.

His performances for both have been nothing short of remarkable, performing his basic duties of throwing into the line-out and scrummaging better than anybody had any reason to expect, while his pace, courage and positional sense around the pitch have been a revelation.

In dealing with the media he performs like a veteran, completely unfazed during the week when surrounded by a myriad of journalists, all apparently with a different agenda, resulting in a battery of questions from the sensible to the bizarre that might well have bewildered a lesser person.
