Sleepless nights ahead for hamstrung Irish coach

IRELAND’S Six Nations bid suffered a potentially serious blow yesterday when midfield partners Brian O’Driscoll and Gordon D’Arcy both sustained hamstring injuries in the hard-fought victory over Italy.

Coach Eddie O’Sullivan admitted that he faces sleepless nights until the fate of his most potent attackers is known. Both undergo scans in Dublin this afternoon.

With only six days between their back to back away dates, D’Arcy looks to be a long shot for Murrayfield. He pulled up at full speed shortly after Geordan Murphy gave Ireland a 29th minute lead with a thrilling try.
