Lomu rules out kidney transplant

FORMER All Black winger Jonah Lomu may barely be able to walk because of his kidney disease but he has ruled out a transplant because it would ruin his goal of returning to rugby.

Lomu rules out kidney transplant

Lomu, 28, has been forced to cancel speaking engagements in Britain after doctors could not treat nerve damage in his feet, which has made walking nearly impossible.

Getting a kidney transplant would remove the need for dialysis but the risk of damage to the new kidney from playing rugby would be too great, prompting Lomu to reject a transplant.
