Montpellier’s Townsend in line for Borders return

FORMER Scotland international Gregor Townsend is on the verge of a return to The Borders, having left Netherdale in January 2004 to play with Super 12 side Natal Sharks in South Africa.

The record Scotland cap-holder is now with French club Montpellier, but is relishing the possibility of a return to Scotland.

Townsend said: “I know the Borders are looking for a stand-off and it would be great to go back.
