TOMMY BOWE appears to be the only fall guy for Ireland’s appalling first-half display against France in Paris.

He was partly responsible for the early French try when he slipped as he attempted to tackle Aurelien Rougerie, but could hardly be faulted for the ineptitude of his more experienced colleagues.

However, he has been dropped for Sunday’s game against Wales at Lansdowne Road, his number 14 jersey going to Andrew Trimble who replaced Bowe in Paris and took his try very well.
