Leota to miss two matches with injury

Wasps hooker Trevor Leota almost had his ear ripped off during a second-team fixture on Tuesday night and will miss the first two rounds of the Heineken Cup as a result.

Leota, who was unavailable for Wasps’ first four games of the season as he sorted a visa problem in New Zealand, was playing against Oxford University when he accidentally collided with a loose elbow.

The blow left Leota’s ear hanging by the artery alone and he was rushed to hospital where he underwent plastic surgery to re-attach it yesterday.
