SRU look to find new coach

The Scottish Rugby Union chairmen have launched the first steps towards making a permanent appointment as Scotland head coach.

SRU look to find new coach

Matt Williams was sacked from the position in March after winning just three Test matches out of 17.

Edinburgh Gunners head coach Frank Hadden stepped into the role temporarily for the friendly matches against the Barbarians and Romania.

Hadden guided the team to wins in both games to cement his credentials for the vacancy.

Former Italy coach John Kirwan has also reportedly expressed his interest in the position.

Now SRU chairman Allan Munro has gathered a preliminary selection panel, including president Andy Irvine, chief executive Gordon McKie, director Brian Kennedy and himself, to assess the applications before moving on to formal interviews.
