Rotherham survival fight goes on

Rotherham’s survival fight continued last night following a “positive and constructive” meeting between potential club rescuers and senior RFU figures.

Representatives of a local business consortium, who have helped raise around £500,000, met RFU management board officials yesterday and the club is still hopeful of beginning their National League One campaign on schedule in 10 days’ time. A business plan and budget was submitted to the RFU earlier this week, details of which are currently being debated.

The Titans were seemingly down and out a fortnight ago with debts of more than £1m, but remain hopeful of starting their National League One campaign against Bedford on September 4.

If the rescue plan is not approved, the club looks likely to cease trading before facing liquidation next month.
