Quiet man relishing spot in the limelight
THIS week has been new territory for Kevin Maggs. In the past, his bullish performances for Ireland were always praised softly. As the plaudits went to the bigger, more exciting names Never let Ireland Down could have been suffixed to the end of the Bath centre’s name.
The exuberant descriptions were reserved for the likes of O’Driscoll, Henderson and Hickie. Maggs was the guy with the unselfish work ethic; the terrier in defence, whose business was barely noticed.
