Young spectator gets punched after U14 game

MUNSTER rugby officials are to investigate an alleged incident in which a teenage spectator received facial injuries after a weekend U14 game in Tipperary.

Young spectator gets punched after U14 game

The incident occurred after the final whistle in the Munster East U14 League match between Cashel and Kilfeacle under lights at the latter’s grounds. Cashel won the match 10-5.

However, after the game, a Cashel spectator entered the field in an effort to separate two players who were involved in a skirmish.

A teenage Kilfeacle supporter then ran onto the pitch and got involved in that incident and was allegedly struck in the face during a melee.

“It was a great game of rugby and both teams gave it 110%. It is sad that it was marred this way” said one onlooker.

A Cashel spokesperson last night said the club would not be making any comment on the alleged incident.

“We have good relations with Kilfeacle and we would hate those to be tarnished by any alleged incidents.

“We will be making no further statement at this time,” he added.

Kilfeacle President John O’Donnell hopes that the “clubs will meet in an effort to resolve this matter as quickly as possible”.
