Llanelli stadium

Llanelli have confirmed a £20m plan to develop a purpose-built stadium on the edge of the town. It means the west Wales region will leave the world-famous Stradey Park within the next three years.

The new stadium will seat 15,000, 12,000 seated and if everything goes according to plan the Scarlets could be playing at their new home by the start of the 2007-08 season.

Scarlets director of rugby Gareth Jenkins said he was very excited by the prospect of a new stadium, which is expected to include a separate athletics track and indoor training barn. It will be funded by Carmarthenshire Council.
