Coach Eddie O’Sullivan will use today’s meeting with the USA as a display case for many to push their claims for a starting berth against Argentina next week, and beyond.

Sheahan heads the field of contenders. Having spent a spell as understudy to Keith Wood, a drugs scandal charge threatened to wreck his career. While the Munster man proved his innocence, rugby was forced to take a back seat, and Shane Byrne headed for the front row spot vacated by Wood.
