O’Connell caps fine return with try

PAUL O’CONNELL made a highly successful return to action at Thomond Park last night, capping a fine 70 minutes against Connacht with a crucial second-half try.

Typically, however, he gave much of the credit to John Hayes, who he claimed lifted him high above the Connacht jumpers on their own throw-in and made it easy to finish off the job.

"John does that kind of thing and never seems to get the credit," O'Connell insisted.
