New-look Scots don’t fear England

ALLY HOGG admits the new-look Scotland side showed too little too late against Wales — but he insists there were enough promising signs to be confident ahead of this weekend’s meeting with England.

The Edinburgh back-row made his debut as Matt Williams' experimental line-up slumped to a 23-10 defeat in Cardiff as their Six Nations campaign got off to a poor start.

But Hogg believes there is no need to fear Clive Woodward's men when they make the trip to Edinburgh.

He said: "At half-time, we were 18-3 adrift and Matt told us we just had to put the first 40 minutes behind us.

"In finishing strongly, we started to get the platform we wanted.

"It was maybe a late start but nevertheless it was evidence of us starting to come together." He added: "No matter who the opposition is, we have to go out in search of a win I don't see any reason why we can't beat England."
