Rugby ties postponed after O’Sullivan death

AIB League and other rugby fixtures have been postponed following the sudden death of young Cork player Conrad O’Sullivan on Wednesday.

Cork Constitution and University College Cork, both of whom O’Sullivan was associated with, have had their AIB League games - against St Mary’s College and Young Munster respectively - put back to new dates in April.

Con’s entire rugby programme for the weekend has been shelved, and it’s believed UCC will follow suit with the postponement of Sunday’s Munster Junior Cup game against Richmond.

O’Sullivan, aged 25, was one of the brightest young talents in Irish club rugby. He played for Cork school PBC, for Munster Schools and Ireland at under-age level. He played at senior level for Munster, and was a key figure in Con’s recent successful run in Irish domestic competition.

He was part of a well-known Cork rugby and GAA family.
