O’Driscoll incident ‘didn’t worry’ Cheika

LEINSTER coach Michael Cheika was never seriously worried that captain Brian O’Driscoll would be punished for an alleged stamping incident in last week’s Celtic League clash with Border Reivers.

“We were notified that there would be no citing, but at that stage we had already looked at the video and felt comfortable enough that there was never a serious incident.

“We didn’t think it was a citing offence, and the Scots, on reflection, decided the same thing. It’s good that the smart option was taken with maturity. I wasn’t worried about it in this way.

“Sure, once we heard word that they were not happy with the incident initially, we had to look at the video; you always have to do that from your own perspective, but the right decision was made,” he said.
