Umaga says spear issue is history

All Blacks captain Tana Umaga has insisted that as far as he’s concerned the row over his involvement in the spear tackle on Brian O’Driscoll is finished.

Umaga says spear issue is history

The centre said now was the time to draw a line under the issue and he was mentally ready to lead his side on Saturday against Wales in Cardiff.

“If I carried all that sort of stuff on my shoulders going into a game, I wouldn’t be able to get out there,” he said yesterday.

“There’s a lot more peripheral stuff that you have to get used to.

“You can’t control these things and you just have to get on with it. That (O’Driscoll) incident has been dealt with - I don’t want to help him sell his books any more.”
