Garryowen’s novel offer

GARRYOWEN have come up with a first for the AIB League by offering free entry to all patrons at their game against Galwegians at Dooradoyle on Sunday next.

Given the very disappointing attendances at the opening round of matches, this may not be as great a financial sacrifice as might first appear to be the case.

Garryowen are sponsored this year by Corporate Cleaning

Services which are owned by former out-half and full-back Killian Slattery and he has come up with a novel idea to launch his involvement.

“We have bought the gate for Sunday’s match so that all members, former members and future members along with all fans of rugby can come and watch the game for free,” he said.

Garryowen president Dermot McKeon echoed the words of his counterparts countrywide when commenting: “Without the generosity of people like Killian, it would be very difficult for any of us to continue on a sound footing.”
