Scotland scored five tries the others coming from prop Gavin Kerr, Gregor Townsend and Craig Paterson but were deeply indebted to 24-year-old Danielli and the 19 points from Paterson in another unconvincing performance, while the one-dimensional Eagles points all came from kicker Mike Hercus.

Scots coach Ian McGeechan said he was happier with the side's performance than in the 32-11 victory over Japan last week.
