Williams’ reign as Scots boss under threat
Australian Williams, who led his team to just one victory in five Six Nations games this year, met with Scotland director of rugby Ian McGeechan yesterday.
There has been widespread speculation that Williams has lost the support of his senior players to the extent that several have threatened never to play for their country again if he remains in charge.
The players’ anger is also directed at the coach’s back-up staff, notably defence coach and fellow Australian Steve Anderson.
Williams, appointed by McGeechan 16 months ago, led his side to five successive defeats in last year’s Six Nations.
