UL Bohemian champions

UL BOHEMIAN celebrated promotion from Division Two of the AIB League - with the added bonus of going up as champions.

After a long, hard-fought campaign, the Thomond Park-based side did enough away to Ballynahinch (22-5) to squeeze through above St. Mary’s College on points difference.

Both sides finished with 59 points but UL Bohemian finished with a points difference of 157 to 151 for St. Mary’s.

The calculators were out after St. Mary’s won at home to Barnhall (33-19), but UL Bohs’ superior 17 point winning margin proved crucial.

The consolation for the Dublin side is that they were also promoted and, with UCC qualifying for a play-off, unlucky Dolphin were squeezed out.

Dolphin headed the table before Saturday’s flurry of activity but they were forced to sit and watch helplessly as the victories for UL Bohs, St. Mary’s and UCC left them out in the cold.
