Train services to Dublin booked out for rugby match
Seats on all regular and special services tomorrow, arriving in Dublin before kick-off, have all been snapped up, Iarnród Éireann said yesterday.
With rugby fever sweeping Munster, over 3,000 fans will travel by rail tomorrow and high demand is also expected today. Fans travelling today are advised that there is no availability on returning services from Dublin tomorrow evening.
Thousands of fans have made arrangements to travel by private coaches and car, and roads leading from the south to Dublin will be busy tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, intending rail travellers who have not already booked rail tickets are advised by Iarnród Éireann to make alternative arrangements, as there will be no tickets available for sale tomorrow.
Five Limerick rugby clubs are set to making a financial killing by organising pre-match, corporate lunches in Dublin hotels. Tables of 10, costing €3,000 in some cases with a stand ticket included for each person, have been snapped up,
North Munster IRFU administrator Gerry Moore said 15,000 match tickets, costing from €25 to €55, had been disposed of in the Limerick area.
“But this might not be the total amount as people have also secured tickets from outside the area,” he said.
Some clubs sent representatives to Perpignan to purchase tickets not being used by Perpignan fans.
Bus Éireann services will operate as normal and extra services are not being provided from Cork for the match. But spokeswoman Erica Roseingrave said buses will be available if needed to take people to the match.
