WITH the dust barely settled on Munster’s Heineken Cup campaign for the season, the race to replace Alan Gaffney as the province’s coach is already underway.

And one of the candidates for the position is understood to be former incumbent Declan Kidney, whose current charges Leinster were beaten in their Heineken Cup quarter-final by Leicester at Lansdowne Road on Saturday.

The Munster Branch is understood to have received up to 15 applications for the position, one of them coming from the current Leinster coach, who will apparently be interviewed within the next week.
