New ball game for Campbell

BRITISH Prime Minister Tony Blair’s former right-hand man Alastair Campbell has been appointed as a consultant to the Lions.

Reports just over a week ago suggested the ex-government communications director would be signed up to help with the media side of the tour.

Lions tour manager Bill Beaumont announced the appointment, saying: “The Lions tour is set to be one of the biggest sporting events of 2005 and getting the media element right is an important part of that.”
