Johnson dashes Welsh hopes by accepting Wallabies post

SCOTT JOHNSON yesterday ended speculation over his future by confirming he is to join Australia’s coaching team — ending the Welsh Rugby Union’s hopes of retaining his services.

As expected, Johnson will return Down Under in May after agreeing a three-year contract to become the Wallabies' attacking coach, linking up with new coach John Connolly.

The 43-year-old has spent four years in Wales, initially as skills expert before taking over as caretaker-coach following the shock departure of Mike Ruddock.
