Amo Racing joins Emmet Mullins’ Coolcullen expansion

Kia Joorabchian described Emmet Mullins as a “very bright young trainer” following the announcement of Amo Racing’s new partnership with the Irish handler.
With Mullins set to have more focus on the Flat sphere after having bought Jim Bolger’s Coolcullen yard earlier this month, Joorabchian’s racing operation have sent Dallas Star and Square Necker, previously trained by Robson De Aguiar and Kevin Philippart De Foy respectively, to the 36-year-old.
“He’s obviously a very bright young trainer and you know how we are, we like to support these guys and Paul (Byrne, owner) has also put in a significant investment,” Joorabchian told the Press Association.
“He’s doing a great job there with Paul, who is supporting as well. So we decided to give him a little bit of support and hopefully succeed and prevail.
“They’re two and we’ve given him a yearling as well, a Flat horse that we’ve got in partnership. So he’ll have three and then probably a couple more. We’ll probably have four or five with him at the end of it.” Dallas Star, runner-up on the Flat at Listed level last year, has an entry for his hurdling debut for Mullins at Navan on Saturday, although Joorabchian admitted he was unaware of the switch.
When asked about the possible change of code, he added: “I don’t know the answer to that. I haven’t asked him about that.
“I guess (it is for) a couple of those horses of ours that were just hitting that sort of a different type of peak on the Flat, and also, it does get a bit boring in the winter time when you don’t have runners.”
