On the mark with Connemara Shore in Wexford on Tuesday, Robert Tyner might strike again with the progressive Kobalt St Georges in the Albert Bartlett Series Qualifier Handicap Hurdle in Cork.

After a number of uninspiring efforts in maiden hurdles, this fellow let his supporters down at Down Royal on St. Patrick’s Day last year.

But, back after a break and reverting to chasing, he has been a revelation over the winter season, kicking off with victory in a 0-100 handicap chase at Clonmel in October, when he scored off a mark of 90.

Upped 6lb, he returned to Clonmel two weeks later and, over a short trip, delivered again, seeing off Onefortheditch.

Tyner decided to bring the Masked Marvel gelding back to hurdling at Punchestown in late January. And he completed his hat-trick, off 90, with a bit to spare, beating Ellies Rock and earning a 10lb hike in his hurdle mark.

Last time, back over fences, he was far from disgraced, off 106, when finishing fourth to Goraibhmaithagat in a novice handicap in Naas.

Today, off 100, he’s set to shoulder 10-6 in this two-and-a-half mile contest and should run another big race.

Dangers to Phillip Enright’s mount include Dameauscottlestown, runner-up to Cousin Kate in a hot mares event at Leopardstown before being denied late by Joyau De Thaix in a beginners' chase in Leopardstown.

Gordon Elliott, in double form at Down Royal on Tuesday, has a number of obvious chances on the card, kicking off with 120-rated Lynches Knock in the Kearneys Coaches Maiden Hurdle.

Winner of an Academy hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas, on his second start, he then chased home Kai Lung at Naas in late January, form boosted by the third Saratoga in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham.

When last seen, the Cullentra gelding filled third spot behind the potentially smart Star Of the Week and subsequent winner Dschingis Desire in Naas.

Although not far ahead of Dawn Coming and Genealogy on ratings, Lynches Knock’s time might have come.

Later, Elliott’s Speculateur, consistent but frustrating in recent months, and rated 120, might have his turn in the Mouse Trap Bar & Bridge House Maiden Hurdle.

A ‘point’ winner for Colin Bowe, this grey has finished in the frame in each of his four starts over flights and was runner-up to King Of Aces at Clonmel last time.

He should be capable of a maiden success and this looks a good opportunity.
