The action continues with a Flat programme in Gowran Park and Mr Vettori, who contests the third race, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden, gets the nap to make it third time lucky.

Well beaten in a Curragh maiden on his first start, Jessica Harrington’s colt took a big step forward on his second outing, when finding only Hawk Mountain too good in a one-mile race at the same venue. Clear of the remainder that day, the form received a huge boost when the winner went on to run away with a Group 2, an effort which earned him a rating of 111.

By Lope De Vega out of a mare, Celestial Object, whose sole success came on soft-to-heavy going, the selection should be even better in this afternoon’s more testing conditions, and he can continue the fine run of the Harrington stable.

Aidan O’Brien’s White Sand Beach is an obvious danger, with the return to a mile likely to aid her cause, while money for his newcomer, Mt Rushmore, or that of Henry de Bromhead, Fourteen Peaks, would be worth noting.

Joseph O’Brien and Dylan Browne McMonagle can take the opening race, the Golf At Gowran Nursery, with Mr Tony.

The lightly raced maiden made his handicap debut earlier this month at Bellewstown and for much of the contest he was out with the washing.

Being caught out the back at that venue is no way to win a race but it was encouraging that, after initially being outpaced, he made rapid late progress through the field to finish fourth behind stablemate and runaway winner Synners Kid.

Much like the winner, he was being heavily eased at the line, and thus there is plenty of reason to believe he can prove considerably better than his current mark of 54.

Today’s track, with the long home straight, will be a help, as should the low draw be, and if he can hold his position in the early stages, his finishing effort over this shorter trip will be hard to resist.

After four runner-up finishes, Therewillbeglory deserves a winning turn and can get it in the Gowran Park Racing Club Fillies’ Maiden.

Andy Slattery’s filly is trying the nine-and-a-half-furlong trip for the first time but races as though she will appreciate it and, that being the case, she will be a tough nut to crack. Candleford Green is respected, as is the once-raced Maeve Brennan, who is sure to improve from that promising debut.
