Bellewstown switches focus to jumps racing, from last night’s fare on the level, and while Adela Icon is anything but a stable star in Closutton, she can put a second hurdling win on her card by taking the Panda Mares’ Hurdle.
Runner-up in two of her three starts in bumpers when trained by Harry Kelly, she joined Willie Mullins' yard and made her debut for the stable in January. A disappointing joint-favourite that day, she fared much better when winning a maiden hurdle at Punchestown on her next start.
A well-beaten third next time and similarly well beaten into fourth place in a listed hurdle at Killarney, she ran her best race to date on her most recent outing in Kilbeggan.
She travelled a shade too keenly on that occasion and it certainly impacted her finishing position to some degree, but she was beaten less than three lengths into third place behind the useful Emily Love and subsequent winner Eye Of A Tiger. She remains capable of better and can make the most of this opportunity.
There are three last-time-out winners in the race and the best of those may be Atomic Queen, a Limerick bumper winner who got off the mark over hurdles by winning a maiden in Downpatrick.
Veteran Dollar Value can get back to winning ways in the Download The Tote App Claiming Hurdle. A winner of 13 of his 80 races to date, he has had two outings this season and last time out, at Roscommon, he finished fourth behind one of today’s rivals, Ahead Of The Posse.
He has seven and a half lengths to find with the winner but he is 10lbs better off and remains capable of leading these rivals a merry dance from the outset.
Course winner Killinure Lass can get back to winning ways over timber in the Bective Stud Tea Rooms & Apartments Mullacurry Cup Handicap Hurdle.
Since winning a handicap chase in Tramore, Philip Dempsey’s mare has twice run over hurdles, and finished quite a close fourth on both occasions. Clearly in good heart and still capable off her current mark, a good run looks assured.
