The other person who might need to be brave and somewhat bold will be William Buick aboard Ruling Court as he bids to complete the Guineas-Derby double this afternoon.

Derby Day. We all see it differently, and while some have rejoiced at the fact that Epsom took what many believe to be the bold and brave step of introducing 72-hour declarations, I have been wondering who noticed, who it benefits, and what impact it will have on the great race.

Knowing the field, draw, and riding arrangements on Wednesday morning for Saturday's race had no effect on my life. It has had the same impact on the betting markets as the declarations would have had if made yesterday, and Epsom got news lines on Wednesday instead of Thursday.
