Tommy Lyons: Kandoo Kid ticks plenty boxes for Grand National glory

Likely it is folly to look beyond the Irish raiders in the Randox Aintree Grand National but there is a compelling case to be made for the Paul Nicholls-trained Kandoo Kid and he can give the Ditcheat trainer his second win in the race, 13 years on from when another grey, Neptune Collonges, gave him the breakthrough in a thrilling finish with Sunnyhillboy.
The nine-year-old is very lightly raced for his age, and certainly isn’t fully exposed as a chaser, having had just nine runs. His jumping is a huge asset, and the quick ground will also play to his strengths.
