Weekend Irish preview: Poet Master can defy top weight at the Curragh

The Flat season steps up a gear with high-class action in the Curragh and Leopardstown, and on Saturday afternoon’s card in County Kildare, the nap goes to British raider Poet Master, who contests the listed Lester Piggott Gladness Stakes.
Karl Burke’s five-year-old must concede weight to all 10 rivals in the day’s feature but should prove up to the task. Winner of five of his nine outings to date, including the Group 2 Minstrel Stakes over course and distance, he is quite lightly raced for his age and is entitled to continue to improve.
