A €310,000 purchase last May, on the back of four bumper wins, Familiar Dreams opened her hurdling account when landing the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Hurdle at yesterday’s rescheduled fixture in Punchestown.

Trained for Qatar Racing by Gordon Elliott and ridden by Sam Ewing, the six-year-old mare made all the running, jumped better than on her hurdles debut but got in close to the last, which enabled market rival Toad Hall mount a renewed challenge.
