Mikey O’Connor was the only rider to partner two winners at Sunday’s well-attended Pigeon Hill and Carrigtwohill point-to-point meeting at Ballyvodock with the north Corkonian completing his brace aboard Ebenezer Scrooge in the six-year-old and upwards maiden, a race that came with a €1,500 bonus to the winning owner.
Valentia Island-based owner/trainer Joe Daly’s Ebenezer Scrooge (7-1) vindicated the promise of his fourth-placed points debut effort at Aghabullogue last month by leading after the last to dispose of Made U Look by five lengths. Daly, who was actually celebrating his very first success, indicated that ex-track performer Ebenezer Scrooge will now contest a winners race.
