Ross O’Sullivan, with his dual-purpose yard, has been one of the great stories for the season and Eagles Reign added further substance to his CV by taking a competitive renewal of the listed Liam Healy Memorial Lartigue Hurdle.
The winner, who finished runner-up to Lark In The Mornin in the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, underperformed at the Aintree festival, after which he was given a break. A spin on the Flat at the end of last month put him spot-on for his return to hurdling and, under a positive ride by Tom Harney, he produced a doughty display to fend off the gambled-on Pinot Gris.
